Making Sure Your Home is Burglar Proof
When it comes to security doors, having the right one will either make or break you. Burglars look for an easy way in. If your doors aren't properly secured, they have their easy in. How can you prevent this?
1) If your doors are hollow, this is a problem. They need to be replaced. How can you determine this? Just knock on them. You can tell instantly if they door is made of thin veneer or solid wood/metal.
2) When you do replace your doors, consider getting a fiberglass one. Be sure they also have security hinges on them too. Another key factor to look for is how they swing. Do the swing outward? Do they swing inward? You want something which will swing outward.
3)Do any of doors have windows in them? This is very important. If your security doors have windows on them, even smaller ones, the person break in that way. Use the windowless kind. I'm merely saying this for your own benefit. A windowless door will be harder to get into.
4) If you have sliding doors, which many of you probably have, get a grille lock for the outside. You can also get one of those polycarbonate panels. Either of these will seal in your home. This will also make it harder to get into.
5) Lock your doors. This might sound simple and quaint, but you'd be surprised how many people don't do this. This makes it an easy in for a burglar. Consider investing in deadbolts. It might cost you more, but that deadbolt could end up saving your life.
